Mud v/s Beggar's Lice

I remember as a child after playing outside during this time of the year, I would could in with many new friends attached to my worn jeans...Beggar's Lice. Those pesky things were everywhere from it seemed like the knee down. I am not sure if is that I have been living all coupe up in the house and not noticed the status of Beggar's Lice or if I really have not cared, but it is really bad this year. Even little Joey had some on his nose today...lol. Is this a sign of a rough winter to come to the South? I have no idea...I have read the Farmer's Almanac through and no mention of Beggar's Lice. However this I will share with you...you may recall that I often relate to the trials of life as mud; well mud is to Beggar's Lice ...it's all sticky.

Good Night!

Make Sure You Keep Packing

Picture this: Me 10pm in the middle of the woods trying to call Joey down from a tree and the flashlight dies as my daughter is holding it thirty feet from me. I don't fear much expect for chickens and other things that fly, but my daughter insisted we go back and get another flashlight. We wrangled all the other cats that had followed us in search of Joey and off to the house we head to get another flashlight ( you should Google cat herding funny videos).

When we got to the house I could hear my husband from the back calling us to come in the back door. "Don't go in the front there is a skunk out there!" Holy cow! I get in the house and look out the front door and there that thing sits...proud as Pete. Not afraid of nothing- he was raiding everything he could. I snapped a few pictures because I thought it was cool at first and the suddenly on a spin of a dime everything becomes uncool- is that a word? I am not sure but you get where I am going. Rudy and the skunk have a pow-wow. The skunk starts running up the road and around in circles- we are standing at the front door thinking...what the world? Soon after that poor Rudy comes back on the porch with his face wet, some sort of liquid dripping from his whiskers, and his eyes are red - Rudy has been SPRAYED by the skunk!

About ten minutes or so everything seems to have calmed down so we decide we are gonna go get in the car and drive to where Joey is to get him out of the tree, in the process of getting in the car we spot the skunk in the yard. OH BUDDY IT'S ON NOW! Of all times be out of packing, but hey there is more than one way to skin a skunk. We let him walk on into the yard and then my husband gunned Charmin (our car)- we missed. Backed up and at this point the skunk is staring Charmin down next thing I know we go flying across the yard and are slamming on breaks at the edge of the woods. He is gone.

Okay so back down the road to get Joey. My husband is as jumpy as Mexican jumping bean and at this point rightfully so. The booger has already sprayed Rudy and escaped death by Charmin twice so this skunk out for vengeance tonight on something. Everything was going ok my daughter and I were in the car encouraging my husband to get Joey down and the all of a sudden I see the flashlight moving in the opposite direction and my husband hollering, "He is BACK!".  Gosh ya'll this was so funny my husband jumped a 4ft fence and all I could see was him getting it down the road running from the skunk.

So when we got back to the house my husband did require some band-aides and alcohol. And of course I am going to have to mend in pants. The moral of the blog... always keep packing at your house and leave skunks alone cause they will hunt you DOWN!!

The Heart, Untruth, and Snuggle

The heart is a muscle that pumps blood throughout the body and is an essential part of the human body to sustain life as we know it. I am going in the hospital in less than 12 hours to have my CVA (google it) checked out to make sure it is not leaking and to also make sure everything else is alright. Why am I telling you this? Well it's after 12 am and I can't have any thing to eat or drink; not that I could eat anyway, but I could drink some ice tea - I blog for therapy and because I love to write.

SO back to the heart...The "HEART"...humm...how does your heart beat? I was hit out of the blue today with an untruth (not going to call it a lie because I don't like the word- even though that's what it was). Smack out of no where, you know that's where they come from- where you least expect it and from the person you least expect it from. Nevertheless, what was I going to do? Let it pass or take the bull by the horns and face it head on; I choose the latter. You know my advice is and you can take it are leave it. If you tell one untruth, well you are gonna have to back it up with another and then another and before you know it you got a bunch of lying going on...oopps! Did I say lie? LOL! Well you get the picture. Just tell the truth whether it is going to hurt or not. I had rather hear the truth and feel the pain from that rather than pain from a lie. Untruth me once shame on me, untruth me twice shame on you- or ever how the saying goes. Not taking kindly to this.

Well maybe while the doctors are working on my heart in 11 hours, perhaps maybe if it's heartbroken from my untruth today- they sew it up, if it is a little too soft in places- they can put a harder on spot, and if it's too hard- they can add some fabric softer maybe Snuggle and it will all come out in the wash.

Good Night and Love and Blessings!

Extra Stuffing

Yep folks it's Golden Girls time...The local department store had their brazers on sale this past week. The only Golden Girl that leaves the house ( Dorothy) was in charge of the weekly trip to town. Sophia was giving out the bra sizes because you know Sophia she is wise beyond her years while Blanche was napping. Well amidst the chaos, Dorothy gets the bra sizes mixed up. I mean who wouldn't REALLY?...Going bra shopping for 3 different women. Dorothy misunderstood Sophia and got Blanche, who was off counting sheep when the sizes were being called out a size 40 DD instead of a 42 D WHOA NELLY!

When Dorothy got back home Blanche tried her new bra on and needless to say the turkey needed extra stuffing. Dorothy and Sophia's bra fit to a "T". Dorothy and Rose had to return the "BRA". Rose couldn't keep her mouth shut about the entire story and told the cashier as they were exchanging the bra for the proper size, who by the way was employee of the month. Huge conversation twist, but the moral of this blog is to never snooze when bra sizes are being discussed and always listen close to the wise one because she is older and is always right.

I Choose Potato Salad

He said...she said...he came in late...she didn't do this- the list goes on and on, but when it ALL said and done, does it really matter? My friend asked me to blog for her tonight-strange request, huh? Well, that's what a friend does for one another...true friends anyway. We are lucky if we come across a few good friends in life, however if we have one awesome friend we are considered blessed. I am blessed!

Like many of you, I am from a divorced family, which seems to still continue to be the going trend from the '80's when I was a child. One thing never seems to change and that is the hurt it causes the children. Without going into much detail and to protect my friend's children, I have held those children and wiped tears from their faces and tried to offer up explanations as to why divorce happens...I have no idea. I am 38 years old and am still trying to understand the concept. We must endure the weaknesses of life so that we may be able to uphold the strong parts of life. Sometimes I wonder about way the life presents itself to us, but it is up to us as to what we do with the potato we are given. We can let it grow spuds...bake it...have mashed potatoes...or potato salad. I choose to have potato salad...it's just better that way...

Do They Have a Farm?

About a month ago we had to relocate; if one can actually call it that...we only moved about 100 feet. So we have the same neighbors we have had for years, but now we are able to hear things better. Suddenly at night as we sit on the porch we can not only hear yapping of weenie dogs, if you listen closely enough you can hear a snort of a pig or horse. It's hard to distinguish, however I was walking today I believe I heard squealing, maybe? Who knows...Now my daughter tells me she heard a cow mooing from down the road. Well more on the farm to come, I feel quite sure...LOL!

My daughter and I were sitting on the porch in the pitch black dark last night listening for the "farm animals"...now keep in mind all of our fur babies were accounted for because they were eying the same eyes that were staring at us. All I know is this little animal was bright eyed, black and faster than a striped snake. One shake and a holler and scoot it was GONE as were we. I may be curious my nature, but got my smarts from my mama! I allowed no time for a spot light or a picture for you all, but as Sophia would say, "Picture it: Sicily 1923", two women tripping over 4 cats to get in the house to get away from the critter...

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

What is Your Forever?

Forever...WOW! A big word, right? But how do we in today's society define forever or do we? I am noticing here lately the word "Forever" has fallen by the wayside and no longer has it's true meaning. Teenagers often use the saying BFF...don't be shaking your head (I see you)...LOL I am up on teenager slang because I have one. Well those teenagers don't know a bit more about forever than I do about Calculus. Forever is deep stuffing. I was a teenager a long while ago and said forever and boom bada bang, God had a change for me.

You see, I thought I was suppose to marry my high school sweetheart, but no God had far greater plans for me. However at that time all I could think about was "Forever" because it was suppose to be forever, right? No...no. You see God's plans for our life are already planned out ever before we are born because HE knows what our "FOREVER" will be in every area of our lives.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

MIA, Bows, and The African Mission

No...I have not dropped off the map or gone MIA, I , rather we have been busy as beavers building a dam. For those of you who read my blog, my friend and I have teamed up and joined forces with "Little Dresses for Africa". The has been two of the most amazing, most reviving, most awaking months of my life. We have over 100 dresses that we are shipping to Missouri tomorrow and from that point they will be shipped freight to Africa and distributed throughout the villages. Oh, how I wish we could be there to see the faces of those precious little girls as they receive their dress. In my mind, I can already picture it and YES!, I am smiling as I blog..LOL! What's not to smile about?? BUT wait, my story gets even better...

So...all of our cloth for our missions project has been donated so far at this point and if I am figuring correctly, we will have enough to do this for at least a year or until the Lord see fit for us to continue or do something else. We have been making hair bow to help with the shipping cost and some other small costs involved. To be frank with you the hair bows just were not selling, so we decided to put the in our local consignment event this weekend. I thought this it is...WRONG!!! My sewing sister told me that those bows were in the wrong place. Well, I wanted to go jump in my car and jerk those bows right outta the consignment sale because I knew she was right. Those bows are intended for two purposes; first to minister to people and secondly to help with the African Mission Project. Those bows were doing neither of the two by hanging on a rack...DUH!?! We went to pick up our merchandise tonight and I knew I had not sold any bows because I had been tracking it for four days, but I went through the line anyway and gave my name. The gentleman said, "Sorry, nothing here for you." I replied, "Oh, I already know and everything is good", all with a smile on my face and I walked away. Then, I heard him call my name. "Wait, Wait!" Here is a check. I was thinking no way...but yes I had a check there! Boy I'll tell you what you will never never see a woman as happy as I was...$3.75! That may seem like nothing, but understand this God provided the money for us to purchase a shipping box! We were SO happy when we got back in the car; we almost had church again in the car. Oh Glory! And we had just come from Revival at church so we were already on our Jesus High.

I just can't wait to see what He does next! Ya'll have a bless week! Love and Blessings to you!

Are You Ready?

Are you READY? Not talking about going to town or a trip to Wal-Mart, but if you were to die before you finish reading this post would you be ready to go to Heaven? This is lying very heavy on my heart tonight because we have a very dear friend who has suffered 2 heart attacks today and the next 24 hours are critical for him,but you see I know he is ready because he accepted Jesus Christ in his heart many years ago. And has had the joys of knowing what God can do in his life and has seen miracles happen - some may even think of him as a miracle because of what he has experienced in life. We all have our own stories, but tonight I know for a fact that as he lays in the hospital bed on a ventilator that I am blogging about something that would make him happy. So I ask again, are YOU ready? Sometimes it takes a tragedy to bring people to God and then again it can be a single person who simply reaches out to another, but what I am basically getting at is just don't let it be too late. Love and Blessings!

Thanks So Much Clinique Lady

All women are beautiful whether they choose to wear make up or not. Beauty is not always what is seen on the outside of a woman- the most perfect beauty a woman can behold is within her heart and that is something no one can ever take away from her.

Okay...So, I choose to wear make up on occasion and today I was going to the department store to purchase some Clinique because I needed a few things and plus it's Clinique Bonus time, which in short just means if you spend a certain amount of money you get a free gift. Well, I am all about getting something free so the timing was perfect. I told to lady behind the counter what I wanted and the shade...and then she says,"And just how do you wear this ma'am?" WHAT?? In my mind, I am calculating I have been wearing make up for about 24 years, which is about how old you are and I am thinking,"WOW", I know she didn't just ask me that. You know when people ask you a question and the reaction shows all over your face because you can not bring yourself to say anything...my word...lol. Thanks so much Clinique lady for your input on make up, but I think I'll stick to my routine. I left the store feeling the same as when I walked in - Happy and Beautiful. It's all in what you make of it. Pardon the pun...lol:) Love and Blessings to All!

"Family of One"

We all have some sorta of pass, whether it's a tragedy that ends with happy ending or perhaps vice versa. Our family went through a tragedy 27 years ago, leaving my cousin to be a "Family of One". He lived with us for a while as I was growing up and I thought of him as the little brother I never had. Now he has written a book entitled, "Family of One". I bought my copy Thursday, and to tell you the truth I read the book in 1 and half hour. I had to build myself to read it because I was being selfish and did not want to relive it again, but I thought of my cousin who lives it everyday of his live and so I read it. Now, I commend him for writing the book because it turned out it be such an awesome book. So if you ever have experience some sorta of tragedy in you life, "Family of One" is a wonderful book and maybe it will inspire you not to give up, allow yourself to do want the body naturally does and the slowly move on and keep a polaroid picture with you always. "Family of One" will be in bookstores beginging February 28, 2012 however if you are local you can purchase one now. http://www.traceyboggs.tateauthor.com/
